OneWebDay Los Angeles @ Tom Bradley Elementary School was a success. Thanks to all of you that participated.
We
started in the school library with the first parent meeting of the
school year where I was on the agenda and spoke about OneWebDay, handed
out buttons and made myself and other volunteers available in the
computer lab for the rest of the day.
We had roughly 10 parents that came in immediately following the
meeting and stayed for over 2 hours. We had them each create
memberships on the
http://caltek.net/lausd/es/tb
school portal and many of them blogged a brief message.
During lunch
the principal strongly suggested that teachers join me in the computer
lab and I also had them, create member accounts and blog something.
During these two major session we had volunteers talking about google
apps, liveCDs, taking and uploading photos, the school website and
accessing California and local district academic assessments, forms and
reports.
Out of the 50 OWD t-shirts I have 2 mediums left and I still have about
25 buttons. Several of the parents and teachers asked if we can do this
again. I told them that we can plan to do more as part of the schools
parent center program.
