Attending: Kenneth Wyrick, Michael Lew, Gilberto Venegas, Lynn Crandall
Absent: Richard Parks, Luis Garcia
* Richard will share curriculum materials and Y.E.S. packet
We decided that Richard will provide curriculum for our project. We prefer he use existing curriculum from Y.E.S., LWV, and content from USMSCA so as to stay consistent with existing resources of strategic partners.
* Gilberto will walk us through his web site and discuss the proposed article
Gilberto presented all aspects of the website and demonstrated where our links can be made once approved by President, Gil Garcia
Next step is getting information from the partners beginning with Tuesday, Dec. 5 noon meeting with Y.E.S. followed by a presentation of results of that meeting to USMSCA board. We will draft a plan to coordinate working with the youth with the USMSCA board.
We will evaluate League of Woman Voters, Y.E.S., LAUSD and Roosevelt High School programs already existing. We envision assisting in coordinating these programs and replicate them in the sister cities in Mexico.
We will fit our programs into the USMSCA program/mission.
Need to establish higher ed partnership potentially CUDI with CENIC.

MESSAGE KEY MISSING: '11'/CLARA Project
The aim of the CUDI/CLARA Project is to increase bandwidth to CUDI, Mexico’s research and education network, from a DS/3 (44.7 Mb/s) to 1 Gb/s, as well as providing a separate 1 Gb/s path from CLARA, Latin/South America’s research and educational network, to San Diego for connection to CalREN.
The aim of this project was to create a 1 Gb/s ring connecting San Diego and Miami with Central and South America. This project is funded by the NSF. This connectivity was established in July, 2005.

* Discuss newsletter
talked about newsletter on Gilberto's site which is an option during the registration process. Drafted by lynn, this FOR DISCUSSION ONLY article has been commented on by Susan Camp - Grand Rapids, MI SCI President who will make corrections on data in her control. We await input from Gil Garcia. This article can be shared with the SoCal Chapter SCI Board to demonstrate our vision for local and global strategic alliances and citizen diplomacy.
Michael raised concerns about allowing students to choose how they would develop their skills, feeling that students shouldn't be illegitimately entitled to do whatever they chose to do in a day's lesson. Ken explained that students would be working within a broad framework, allowed a port of entre from their area of interest or expertise. Ken's and Richard's theory is that given enough time to "run around the circle" the student will automatically grow into the areas adjacent to his/her port of entre into the discipline.
* Discuss Dec. 10 Azusa meeting We'll have enough to work on for that preparation after our Y.E.S. meeting. Lynn will meet Gilberto at IGM Parking lot to go on to the meeting together.
